All seasonal staff at GBC are volunteers, giving their time to serve the Lord in various areas of camp ministry. Contact the camp to find out what positions are still available.
Summer Staff Application
Reference Form – 3 needed
One Hope Canada Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct Please Mail in to camp.
Applications submitted to the camp by May 1 will take priority over those received later.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. (Applicants who are 15 may apply for the Service Team only. Details below.)
Important Note: Anyone 18 years and older must have a current police records check (no older than 2 years) on file at the camp prior to working on staff. If you do not have one, you must obtain one from your local police department and forward it to the camp. Some areas may take up to 6 weeks to process!
You will need 3 references for your application. References and police checks should be mailed to the camp after you submit your application. You need to give a pre-addressed stamped envelope (and reference form) to your listed persons of reference. You will not receive acceptance papers until we have a valid police check for you on file.
Even though all staff are volunteers, there are a few programs that may help students save money for fall educational expenses.
A Social Insurance Number is required.
Summer Missionary Assistance Program (SMAP) Anyone volunteering 3 weeks or more is eligible to participate by raising support. Gifts given toward this program qualify for a tax-deductible gift to the donor.
Grants (Federal and Provincial) Any full-time student volunteering for 5 weeks or more may be eligible to benefit from one of these programs pending availability. You must currently be a full-time student and plan to return to school in the fall.
A practical training program for 15 year olds during Great Big C and Skills camp sessions only. This is an opportunity to be a part of the team under the direction of a Service Team Coordinator performing tasks such as:
- serving tuck
- decorating for banquets
- setting up chairs
- sweeping sidewalks
- assisting with luggage on registration day
- helping with program set up such as:
- collecting materials
- hiding items for games
- making signs
- helping in the kitchen
- janitorial and maintenance
You must be 15 years old or have completed Grade 9 by July 1. You must attend Staff Orientation to learn about GBC’s policies and procedures.
